Travelling to Cape Breton for a Wee Dram

We had a nice breakfast at the Train Station Inn and got underway at about 9:30 am. Monte the Travel Moose came out to check out the train station.

Our destination was near the start of the Cabot Trail so we could take our time and do some sightseeing along the way.

It was a nice drive along Hwy 6 and we detoured into Pictou to check it out. Nothing picture worthy there!

We continued along the Trans Canada Hwy and crossed into Cape Breton. We picked up the Ceilidh Trail upon crossing the causeway stopping at several "Look-offs" for some views of the coastline and scenery.

Mabou was our lunch stop. A small town with a classic church and fishing harbour.

We had a bowl of fabulous chowder at the Red Shoe Pub, owned by members of the Rankine Family.

Our destination was Glenora Distillery, the first single malt distillery in North America and home to award winning wisky.

We did the tour and found out that they only operated the still for five months a year because of water quality problems during the warmer months.

We had a nice room at their Inn and ended up going to their pub for a nice supper and some local entertainment.
