Our Trip to "The Rock"

We have visited 9 out of 10 Provinces and 47 of 50 States so this is the year to score a perfect 10 in Canada!

Usually we have a difficult decision to travel away from Niagara-on-the-Lake (except for sailing) in the peak summer season. This year, we have had a repeat of the Lake Ontario flooding that affected us in 2017. Anticipating that we would not be able to launch and actually use our boat until late July at the earliest, we decided to take an oft-discussed trip to Newfoundland.

This decision evolved rather quickly over the Victoria Day weekend after realizing it may not be a wise decision to put the boat in the water.  Using our experience in planning a number of other trips, we were able to do this one in record time. Within 2 days we had all of our Newfoundland travel and accommodation planned and booked.

We will be doing a circuitous route travelling to New Brunswick via the USA, Ontario and Quebec and then on to Cape Breton for several days of exploring there before catching the first overnight ferry of the year to Argentia NL. We have a couple of weeks or so booked for an east to west trip across Newfoundland, staying in several small villages. We return to the mainland via the shorter ferry ride and continue on our way home, stopping to explore some of the New England states.

I will try to keep the blog up to date daily but am not sure how the internet connectivity will be in some of the places we are staying so the posts may come out in "bursts".
