The fabulous weather we have enjoyed on the Cabot Trail has left us. We awoke in the cottage to a steady rain. That meant we were in no rush to leave as there would be no outdoor exploring today on our way to North Sydney where would board the ferry to Argentia NL. I did stop for one photo op to remember the day.
We arrived early in North Sydney and had time to have lunch and pick up some sandwiches to eat on the Ferry. They only have a buffet on the ferry and we don't do buffets.
The rain picked up just before loading and we were glad to settle in onboard.
We had a cabin which was fairly compact but clean and utilitarian. This was after we slept in it and made a bit of a mess...
We departed at 5:15 pm by which time we had found the Mosquito Bar at the front of the ferry.
We enjoyed a couple of drinks then returned to the cabin to have our sandwiches. It was raining quite heavily as darkness arrived and the ferry started to roll gently. We watched the Apollo 11 Documentary on the computer for a couple of hours then decided to call it a night. The gentle roll changed to a moderate roll.
The wind forecast was for gusts to 45 knots and I believe we had some of that as the ferry pounded into the waves at a speed of 25 knots. The moderate roll was accompanied by an occasional shudder as the ferry slammed into the waves. I was able to get some sleep but Chris not so much. We think she overdosed on the Vomistop and it got her wired so she couldn't sleep! (not nauseous though!).
We approached the coast of Newfoundland and the fog was very thick but the boat had slowed and the roll was gone. It seemed to take forever to get tied up and ready to unload the vehicles but we were off the boat within 5 minutes of the advertised ETA of 10:00 am.
